AMMA AWARD SEASON 5 FORM IS OUT


AREWA MUSIC & MOVIE AWARDS (AMMA) is the most prestigious and most celebrated Award in Northern Nigeria. This unique award which was incepted in the year 2013 has witnessed its gradual rise to be the most anticipated award of all time.

The award ceremony focuses on the Hausa movie scene also known as Kannywood industry awarding movie practitioners. The music category is not left out as the award has uplifted the value of music in northern Nigeria.

This years edition will have 24 movie categories and 18 music categories so far.

While having a brief chat with the Project Lead, Abdulkadir Abdulrahman on this year's upcoming event, he told Hausa Hiphop that there has been changes in this years event. According to him, this years event is without the most popular categories also known as the viewers choice category. "Nonetheless, the award will still build on what it is known for i.e. credibility, transparency and uniqueness."

"Celebrating consistency to mark the 5th anniversary of AMMA Awards makes it unique,"says Mr. Abdulkadir. This year's award is going to be packed with gifts ranging from plasma tv, I-pads, mp3 headsets, mobile phones and goody bags. 


The music category has some modifications and additions this year. There is the introduction of Best Hip-hop (Female) and Best Music (Indigenous). Other new additions are Best Afro-Pop, Best Album (Indigenous) and Best Hip-hop Revelation which is exclusively for the kids.

Rookie artist of the year has been renamed Lil Ameer Memorial Award to immortalize the late iconic artist.

Nominees Dinner will hold on March 31st 2018 in Kano.
Main event will hold at Katsina on April 14th, 2018.
